After two years of preparation, writing the script, casting selections, location hunting, filming, and post-production, the troika of Filipino-Americans Sheila Tejada and Jesseal Amelia with Indian-American Tara Mukund, produced “Sequins,” a comedy with original musical sequences that was screened at Raleigh Studios, Chaplin Theatre on Melrose Ave., Los Angeles attended by family, friends, cast and production crew.
Produced by Tiny But Mighty Films, the 15-minute pilot was well-received.The storyline revolved around a young woman who left the comforts of her childhood home in the lovely suburb of Cerritos to an apartment in the “mean” streets of down- town Los Angeles - to begin her life’s journey, what’s in store for her, and to live independently away from her parents.
The two executive producers: Sheila Tejada as Lucy and Jesseal Amelia as Noreen also appeared in the project. The first few minutes of the movie showed Lucy living in a fantasy world. I likened this first scene to the young Judy Garland in The .

Actress Sheila Tejada in action Wizard of Oz strolling amid pristine gardens, only to wake up from her fantasy dream to the real world unknown what would await her.
By the way, Sheila Tejada was a former Miss Cerritos, Miss PHILSELA and Miss AMOR of Southern California and graduate of Whitney High School based in the City of Cerritos.. She obtained her B.S. degree in Political Science with a double major in Drama. She is the daughter of Danny P. Tejada, current president of Association of Mangatarem Overseas Residents (AMOR) of Southern California. Miss Tejada had the opportunity to ride the Cerritos float in the world-famous Pasadena Rose Parade with the Cerritos Mayor Bruce Barrows and wife in 2008.
As she sauntered to her newly-rented apartment, Lucy encountered a homeless young lad bearing crude poster sign “Former child star but homeless since puberty.”In another scene, they met an elderly couple who live next door to her. Unbeknown to her, they are still extremely sexually active and even kinky. Obliviously, she heard some bedroom commotions and mischievously eavesdropped. The man could be heard blurting, “I’m ready.” In the process of consummating their sexual desires, the woman asked her partner to bring lubricant. Mistakenly, he handed her Bengay.
This movie is for matured audience only, I believe. If there’s one scene that might pose concern from the general public, is the love-making scene. Children and the clergy might find it too explicit for their taste. Playing with words, “Sequins” can be interpreted with the clothing adornment that’s embedded in a woman’s dress. Second, it could mean that the executive producers who played as opinionated sisters plan to produce a series or sequence of plots as a continuation of their life’s saga.
As printed in the film’s promotional trailer, "Sequins" is a glittery, fun, whimsical web series that chronicles the sometimes humorous, often uncomfortable, and always authentic adventures of Lucy. Directed by Dale Fabrigar, the series is a romantic comedy with original musical score and sequences. Other notable characters include Mariko Van Kampen, Lucy’s mother, the elderly couple: Michael Yama as Arthur and Joyce Fidler as Edith and Fil-Am Abe Pagtama as Ronaldo.
Hollywood – Three enterprising millennials: two Filipino-Americans and an Indian-American defy some perceived odds and family concerns to eventually pursue their dreams of producing a comedy pilot
It’s an uphill climb. But their dauntless efforts will bear fruits someday.
As the name of the movie company connotes, Tiny But Mighty Films, this production company aims to inspire audiences to think BIG instead of small.
“Sequins” is currently being submitted into film festivals so the pilot episode is not yet public. In the meanwhile, the public can view the music video that goes along with the comedy pilot on YouTube at https://youtu.be/zq92T6r8v64.
