Over four decades after our elders have planted our seed we have grown into a robust mother tree with branches throughout the globe. We are the children of nature, long asleep and wandering in the misty-covered-landscape that is so intricately arranged by His hand.

Our beauty and sereneness burst open as the sunshine breaks in the morning.  As nature’s way warmly embraces our young stature, we shout to the world, that yes, at last, our time has come! We have arrived, united and now, we are one: The Global Urdanetanians!

We have awakened from our deep slumber. Our time has come to shine and make a real difference. We are the youth of Jose Rizal, sons and daughters of our old hometown Urdaneta, once pristine that metamorphosed into a bustling city in the middle of a rich and vibrant home of the Hundred Islands in Pangasinan.

Who are we?  We are the caring hands that attend to the sick, the loving hearts that comfort the broken. We build cities and modern communities, design homes and give life and entertainment to people. We protect the state, secure our borders and preserve peace in the neighborhoods, so our people will live without fear. We are the seafarers that sail along the old galleon trade routes that expand our horizons, ever ready for new discoveries like Ferdinand Magellan. We contribute our skills and intellect so that modern man will realize his visions and dreams spread across many continents. Our broad array of interdisciplinary expertise is the key to the advancement of leading businesses and industries impacting man and his way of life.

We defend the rights of men to be heard in many civil and criminal cases so that justice will prevail and that truth will triumph. We are men and women of letters who use our pens as swords against oppressors while shielding the oppressed.

We proudly belong to the armed forces of our motherland and of the most militarily advanced country in the world. Together with other freedom-loving nations, we fulfill our difficult role of maintaining the balance of power in the world and keep the peace and prosperity in volatile regions. We are the force that runs our industries so that new products and services can be manufactured and traded in the stream of commerce.  We are the movers and shakers in the economic, social, political and religious sectors of society. With our specialized knowledge, education and experience, we exceptionally perform our unique roles in every level of leadership or membership in each organization.  We keep our homes safe and happy. We make our families strong and fit, unrelenting to the demands of our daily lives and resolutely becoming useful citizens of our adopted countries.

How did we get to who we are as One Urdanetanian?  The Original Urdanetanians (TOU) of Southern California has spearheaded the One Urdanetanian movement embracing all people coming from Urdaneta or schooled in its various high schools. We felt the need to create a society of like-minded people to set sail into the sunset and explore the world beyond. We who have now chosen adopted countries in quest for our chosen human endeavor have pursued our dreams and goals in life...(Turn to  page 7)

The 2012 UCNHS Alumni Night: A Night to Remember

By Teofanes Manantan UCHS '66

After the Holy Mass in the morning of November 25 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Alumni of various batches trooped to the Urdaneta City Cultural and Sports Center for the much awaited gala night. At the start of the event at 6 p.m., nerves began to tremble as the huge venue was almost empty. But by 7 p.m., the crowd grew to almost SRO as attendees started to trickle in. It was almost 8 p.m. when honorable Amadeo "Boboom" Perez arrived, which signaled the start of the evening's program. In his inspirational talk, the good mayor boosted the accomplishments of his administration including Urdaneta being dubbed as the "safest, cleanest and greenest city not only in Pangasinan but also in the entire Region I (Ilocos Region). He revealed that starting this year, the city fiesta activities would be held in the Urdaneta City Cultural and Sports Center as the City Public Auditorium has been converted into a vegetable "bagsakan" market to punctuate the increasingly emerging commerce in the Metroropolis of Urdaneta. In closing, he exhorted the Alumni to continue achieving professional and technical excellence that will propel the city to greater heights...(turn to page 6)
