Journey of hope, seminars and livelihood

The stars are aligning...  "This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, when the moon is in the Seventh House, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then peace will guide the planets, and love will steer the stars."

Pangasinan Brotherhood's Musical Odyssey came through with flying colors, through the hard work and painstaking efforts of its planners who made the difference. The honor roll is led by Eddie Ferrer and Dan Nino, Errol Mendoza and DreamAgeGroup. They are followed closely by Felix Lopez, Neil Estrada and Ferdinand Soriano with the officers and members of the board.

Just on the heels of this resounding success, comes the seminar on 'Product Sourcing, Logistic and Compliance, e-Commerce Trade and Marketing'. Like a ripple in the ocean, this productive collaboration on April 26, 2017 at the Toyota Automobile Museum in Torrance, California has gained momentum and built itself up into a giant wave with its intensity and power.  As we turned a new page of adventure and delight towards livelihood, trade and e-commerce through this seminar, the expectation for everyone who had come was for them to learn and they got a little surprised with what it can bring to their lives and to other people’s lives.

Congratulations to the PB-USA NextGen for a job well done by bringing together the important pieces of the trade puzzle into a harmonious and beautiful whole for everyone to enjoy.  The millennials who made the difference were Project Manager Ferdinand Soriano (Planet 63), Jacqueline Ferrer (America Pacific Consolidate Line), Mike Pestano and Nicole Parker (Health Evolution), Dean Mandapat (PB-USA photography).  This young group was supported by Vice Chairman Mellie Soriano and Fernando Soriano (Planet 63) who donated the breakfast.  Eddie Ferrer and Rhenee Ferrer (EC Ferrer CHB) gifted their advice to the organizers. The Philippine Department of Trade and Commerce director Jojie Dinsay made an impressive presence. Attendees were various country trade representatives, consulates officials and business people.

The seminar is a natural continuation of creating livelihoods started by then President Ferrer in 2013 in cooperation with the provincial government of Pangasinan under the leadership of then Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr., its provincial officials and staff. PB-USA President Lino Caringal Jr introduced them as the ninjas of e-commerce in the evolving stages of world trade and commerce. These organizers have built platforms for business deemed to be actionable and with testimonial results.  The team effort has generated a good synergy for its success. This has led to an ever glowing and inspiring appeal to the rest of the NextGens to join in and take active part in its journey of hope.

Lino Caringal, Jr., introduces Ferdinand Soriano as the trade seminar's project manager,"He likes connecting the proverbial dots and formulating marketing ideas. He loves meeting people and understanding perspectives. He is passionate about helping people in their business. Let's the business development analyst for Provenance Holdings”

Lino Caringal, Jr., eloquently introduced Eddie Ferrer and his role in the burgeoning appreciation of “Journey of Hope” which defines the simplest manifestation of his feeling towards kabaleyans back home. He labored unrelentingly to put up a series of trade seminars,  one  in Los Angeles for prospective buyers and importers,  a second one in Manila for local businessmen and prospective exporters, a third one in DagupanCity for local producers and provincial staff of Pangasinan and a joint conference of the Department of Defense US AID, Pangasinan government and PB-USA. He was responsible for events that triggered the much anticipated exposure of Philippine goods in US through the Artesia International Street Fair in 2015 while continually working with the grass roots level producers. This was the first time that the whole provincial government led by then Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. joined PB-USA for a trade show.

The best part of the journey was his working sessions. He has developed a common perspective particularly in helping our poor kabaleyans. As their voices continuously cry for help, action is the best thing that he knows that we can give them. And, this latest seminar is but one of them which can give impetus to the movement started four years ago out of his love for Pangasinan. He defines our journey as a continuing one full of hope, determination, and heavy sacrifices. He is a results-driven leader who makes us arrived at Pangasinan Brotherhood's "mission" to where it is now.

He is like our then Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. who had his total support and outreach to help the underprivileged and disadvantaged sector, particularly in the area of trade and commerce. He is humbled to align our mission with the governor's advocacy. The speakers were as worthy and capable of inclusion in the 2017 seminar. Philippine Consulate Trade Director Jojie Dinsay introduced Discover Philippines, a well- researched and informative delivery of the state of world trade of Philippine products. He emphasized that there is huge potential for Phillippine products in the US.  Thus, there is a bright tomorrow for Philippine-US trade, the practitioners in the industry and other related businesses.

Ferdinand Soriano efficiently presented Planet 63, his new corporation he co-founded with Fernando Soriano. He has a data base of Philippine products, producers and manufacturers as a resource for would be importers or buyers. Since this is internet based, his customers may come from major cities around the world because of the power of the internet in global marketing. He seeks to be the premier online portal for businesses in the Philippines. His future platform is for business process outsourcing, tourism, investments.

Eddie Ferrer discussed customs compliance, customs clearance requirements, such as power of attorney, surety bond and cargo insurance and customs examination. Mike Defensor and Nicole Parker of Health Evolution methodically outlined a statistical presentation on e-commerce marketing, using all social media network. Their part was laid out to be understood easily and could be acted upon by would be practitioners of the new form of business transaction via the power of the internet. They explained the ideal 5- step plan for digital marketing and analysis of daily social media postings. To explore buyers, publish and promote your content and allow sharing to other outposts, networks and influencers. They have outlined the social media trends from live streaming video, the rise of chat box to increased usage of social influencers.   - (Please turn to page 8)
